2s get the title charge back on track, writes Jordan

With the 2XI at home to Tenterden on Saturday after the disappoint of a loss the previous week, the side only had one change bringing the much-needed bowling of Alex Hill in for the injured Aiden Griggs. The match got off with some players being late (just me), losing the toss and being sent out to field in warm weather.

The bowling performance got off to a mixed start with one Tenterden opener seemingly playing on a different pitch to most of the rest of the team until Jordan removed him for 24. After this the collapse was inevitable with the rest of the team still thinking about the drive up to Bexley CC. With some decent bowling from the Bexley openers (in particular the captain) Tenterden was reduced to 57-3. From here it went from good to great for Bexley with Alex Hill taking 3 in successive overs despite his first three balls going Wide No Ball Wide. The was accompanied by some decent bowling from Anish, Shaun Evans and Fraser reducing Tenterden to 89-8. Sadly Bexley struggled to take the elusive final two wickets, not being helped by an outstanding dropped catch at 137-8 (by JORDAN!). Shortly after a field change and bowling change Sam Barton took the final 2 wickets and Tenterden were all out for 140odd.

There must be a shout out to the Bexley tea ladies who put on an outstanding spread for both teams. After everyone stuffed their faces in typical style, the teams were ready to get back out there with Dan and Shaun ready to take it to the Tenderten bowling attack. But similar to the previous innings with some good bowling the Bexley were slightly pegged back with Dan out caught and bowled and Shaun Evans out skying one (similar to last week). Enter Jack Bell who with a decent 50 not out saw the game home for the home side with wickets falling around him. Murtz caught long on, Stanley C & B (Golden) and Sam Barton LBW. The game was finally bought home by Belly and Shanksy.

Overall a decent performance from Bexley with areas for improvement but some good performances in particular; Belly, Shanksy, Stan (Bowling) and Hilly.
