Sunday 27th April saw the 1st XI begin their 2025 National Cup campaign vs Rustington CC. Rustington play in the Sussex Cricket League Div 4 West and came up against a stern test. Captain Matt Stiddard put them to the sword with a stunning 107 not out off 73 balls.
45 from Ben Aldred and a quick fire 31 off 16 balls from George Haley meant they ended the 40 overs 270 for 4.
With Rustington chasing 271, a brilliant run out from Ollie Smith and an LBW from Harry Dowling in the 1st over meant it was always going to be a tough chase.
2 wickets for Fraser McWhinnie and 2 from John Rodda in his competitive debut for Bexley added to the pain, whilst figures of 2.3 Overs 0 maidens 4 for 5 from Ollie Smith ended the match in the 14th Over with Rustington only reaching 33.
