Ian Clark RIP

Ian Clark RIP

Bexley CC2 Oct 2024 - 12:44

It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Ian Clark.

Ian first joined Bexley Cricket Club in 2005 from Chelmsford. Ian is Bexley CC’s leading wicket taker in the Play Cricket era, with 459 competitive wickets; with an incredible 14 five wicket hauls.

In 2015 he took a whopping 49 league wickets across the 3rd and 4th XIs and his best ever figures of 7-12.

More recently, Ian was the 4th XI leading wicket taker in 2023 & 2024; in the latter being the leading wicket taker in the whole division. With these achievements, he was awarded the 4th XI player of the year on both occasions.

Off the pitch, Ian was instrumental in setting up the club’s website upon his arrival at the club and also being everyone’s favourite bingo caller on a Tuesday of Cricket Week. He was always extremely happy to help whether that was scoring, uploading a scorecard online or setting up for a game, in a pair of his favourite crocs.

Away from cricket, Ian was a beloved member of the Bexley CC family, and he will be sorely missed.

RIP Clarky.

Ian Clark’s funeral will take place on Friday, 11th October, at 2pm, at Thames View, Gravesend Road, Shorne, Gravesend DA12 3JH

Then afterwards back to Manor Way, for something he loved, a Loring Hall tea.

Clarky’s, wife Carole-Anne, daughter Megan and son William would love to see as many friends and family on the day and would welcome flowers and/or donations to the British Heart Foundation.

The Funeral Director has set up an Obituary page, all the information is on there, including a link to the Just Giving page and a link where you can advise the family if you're attending, this would be particularly helpful so we know how many to cater for on the day.
