In late December, we had the old carpet on the clubhouse lounge and bar area taken up and re-laid with commercial carpet tiles in a striking Bexley colour. Many thanks to Nic Dowling for sourcing the tiles and carrying out this work.
At the same time the Committee decided it was time that remedial work was carried out on the clubhouse floor, which was becoming unstable; not surprising given the amount of people that were bouncing to Neil Diamond’s greatest ever hit last September after arriving back victorious from Lords.
It was found that some of the joists were rotted, and that new joists and support posts were required under the floorboards and that the old floor be replaced, boarded, and re-laid with a composite flooring requiring no nails, thus ensuring that Joycey will not end up in hospital again following a bar slide.
We were able to fund this sizeable project with a grant from the ECB. I think, when you see the flooring, you will be amazed at how good it looks.
Once again, huge thanks go to Nic Dowling and his team for carrying out this work.
