Bexley CC win v Littlebourne CC at the St Lawrence Ground

Playing in the delayed Dyno T20 finals day from the 2018 season, on Saturday 6th April, the Bexley Rangers Dyno T20 squad travelled to the Spitfire Ground, Canterbury on a very chilly Saturday morning,

Playing Tonbridge CC in the first semi-final with a cold 10:30am start, Tonbridge put the Rangers into bat. A fine innings of 97 off 53 balls from Shaun Evans went towards setting Tonbridge a target of 206 to win. In reply they had no answer to the Bexley bowling; Simon Harman 4-21 and Shaun, 3-18. 154 all out and Bexley were through to the final where they met the challenge of
Littlebourne CC.

Littlebourne batting first set a target of 204. A steady start by Dan Bygrave and Shaun in the first four overs set the platform for a run fest. Big overs for Bexley pushed the score along. Shaun recording 6-6-4-6-6-4 in the fifth over. At 6 overs Bexley were 74-0 and well above the run rate. Shaun ended with a 19 ball 54 and at the 8 over stage, 102-0. 11 overs gone and at 125-1 a win was in sight if wickets were kept in tact. Despite a few wickets falling Dan Bygrave reached his 50 off 38 balls. Dan Haley went after 28 off 22 to keep the momentum going. Wickets started to fall and at 176 for 5 30 runs were needed off 24 balls.

Requiring 8 from 10 balls Archie Hobbs-Moore looked in good shape with Sam Brady connecting well and Simon Harman and Captain Lush for the final over and 7 required. First ball - 5 wides and then Lushy crashed a boundary 4 through the covers to win the match. Excellent performance all round with all of the team playing their part against a strong Littlebourne outfit who must have thought 205 was a match winning score.
