More silverware for Bexley CC

Match report.

Having been knocked out of the u13 cup at the preliminary stage 2 years ago the boys were determined to put things right and confidence was high having beaten the two finalists from that year on the way to reaching Finals Day of Kent section of the Vitality Blast U15 National Club Championship at The Mote.

First up was Beckenham CC, a team that had beaten us comfortably six weeks beforehand. Harrison lost the toss and we were duly asked to bat. A positive start saw us handily placed but some tight middle over bowling and good field placings by the Beckenham captain meant that boundaries were rare but some excellent running by Harry Turner (36) and Ollie Smith (29 not out) with some late innings hitting from Charlie Hills (19) saw us post a very respectable 133 for 4 from 20 overs. In reply some strong batting saw Beckenham placed well at 61 for 2 off of their first 10. The game was in the balance. However some fantastic boundary fielding from Josh Kearns led to the Beckenham captain being run out and soon after, the other set batter was also sent on his way after some excellent fielding from Harry Turner. After this the runs slowed and we eventually turned out comfortable winners by 17 runs

On to the final with Tunbridge Wells. Another lost toss and this time we found ourselves in the field. Some incredibly tight bowling from Shaan Suvarna saw Wells manage only 12 off of their first 5 overs and 43 off the first 10. Once again excellent running over big hitting seemed to be the order of the day and they posted a score of 120. When we lost Harrison Coombs and Josh Kearns cheaply the signs were a little ominous but we really should not have worried as Ollie Smith and Harry Turner had things under control. Ollie finding the boundaries much more easily and when he departed, Harry took up the reins and reached 50 as he hit the winning runs off of the last ball of the 17th over.

Well done to all of the boys, they were all excellent on the day: Harrison Coombs, Josh Kearns, Harry Turner, Ollie Smith, Shaan Suvarna, Charlie Hills, Ben Angel, Louie Patel, William Cowling, Shiv Patel, Jake Wakeman and Jude Smith (played in the previous rounds)
