Bexley CC has a very successful Colts section and benefits from a dedicated Colts Committee, a fully qualified coaching staff and the full support of the main club. All coaches are either ECB or UKCC qualified with at least six coaches qualified at Level 2. All are CRB checked and have attended First Aid and Child Protection courses. The section is very popular and Bexley CC has a waiting list system for those children wishing to join. Whilst successful and popular there is a need to restrict numbers to ensure an acceptable coach/colt ratio. Colts join at Under 9 level and hardball league cricket is played from Under 10 to Under 16. The section runs a winter programme from January to March each year giving an opportunity for current colts to maintain their skills and also allowing the coaching staff to assess potential new colt members. In addition to the boys there is also a thriving girls section with U11, U13 and U15 age groups. All teams play competitive "hardball" cricket in the North Kent Junior League and also participate in National ECB regional competitions.
In recent years Bexley has hosted young teams from South Africa and Dubai, Kent Young Cricketers and Clubs from other regions in the County. Many of our colts go on to play senior cricket at Bexley CC. Some have gone on to represent Kent CCC and recently Adam Ball has been representing England at Under 19 Level.
Prospective new members are encouraged to attend Bexley District Cricket courses organised by Richard O'Sullivan prior to applying for membership so that ability can be assessed. Details of these courses are well advertised in most of the Bexley Borough Junior Schools. You can also e-mail Kerry Riley our colts secretary. Bexley enjoys a unique, friendly atmosphere and parents of registered colts benefit from social membership of the cricket club.
