Bexley Cricket Club has been in existence for over 200 years. Records exist before that but we celebrated our official bicentennial year in 2005. The present ground in Manor Way was in use by the club in 1866.

The Club is Bexley boroughs only Premier League Club In the Kent League. One of the 10 Premier League sides in Kent. Several Bexley players have played at both County and International Level. The Club runs five league sides on Saturdays and normally two sides on Sundays, competing in several cups and league competitions.

Cricket Week, run in July, is a festival of cricket and socialising. Generally recognised to be one of the best in the South East. Cricket week is a major source of income for the club. The Club has a thriving Colt’s section, catering for ages from 9 to 17 year olds and has been a major contributor of Playing and Non Playing members for the main Club and is an integral part of the Club and its structure. An established Kent Tour, run in August also provides development opportunities for younger players.

The Manor Way site, located near to Bexley Village, has several different parts to it.

1. The Main Cricket ground (Square & Outfield/Pavilion) is on a 99-year lease granted by the Potter family in 1930. In 1968 the Club entered into a 35-year sub-tenancy agreement with Burnt Ash Hockey Club for their use of the ground and clubhouse, which operates, from October to the end of March each year.

2. The Car park & Tennis courts purchased freehold in 1960 it houses tennis courts leased to Bexley CC Tennis Section and the former squash club buildings leased to the Liz Burville Dance School.

3. The overflow car park purchased freehold in 1980.

4. The new Hockey pitch, purchased freehold in 1988, jointly with Burnt Ash Hockey Club, It comprises a high quality grass hockey pitch and in the summer is used for younger colts. It also houses three artificial practice nets.

5 Part of the new hockey pitch has been held on a license issued by the Mill Meadows trustees

The Club in conjunction with Burnt Ash Hockey Club employs a full time groundsman.

The Manor Way Ground is used almost exclusively for 1st/2nd Teams on Saturday and A/B teams on Sundays. The Club hires additional grounds to accommodate home fixtures for the lower eleven's.

The Management of the Club is in the Hands of an annually elected volunteer committee comprising:
The Officers: President, Chairman, Honorary Secretary, Honorary Treasurer, 1st Eleven Captain and Assistant Honorary Secretary. The Chairmen of the sub-committees: Bar, Colts, Entertainment's, Ground & Pavilion, Planning & Development, Catering, Marketing and Playing.
The assets of the club are formally vested in 4 trustees. We only have 3 at present. Currently there is one vacancy.

The activities of the club are governed by its Constitution & Rules. This framework requires among other things that there should be annual elections & accounts.
The sub-committees carry out the day-to-day administration under general policies laid down by the General Committee, which meets monthly.

The Colts section has its own constitution and is run by a sub-committee comprising a Chairman (Who is a member of the General committee), Secretary and Treasurer elected at the Club AGM and up to 4 other members nominated by the officers of the colts committee

The Club benefits enormously from unpaid effort from members in all areas of its activities. The Club aims to be at least self-financing with subscriptions set at levels to achieve this. The Bar is a major source of income. Despite many successful fund raising events and the ongoing practice of good housekeeping. The Club finds it difficult to increase income sufficiently to provide for major capital projects (New ground/pavilion etc) and restricts itself to the maintenance and improvement of its exiting facilities.
Volunteers are essential for the ongoing prosperity and future of the club and we rely heavily on member's time and goodwill.
